Lion Quick Sketches
I’m very much addicted to these little Moleskine blank notebooks - the reporter style is particularly nice to use. Not the thicker paper, the thin stuff; plenty of pages, super smooth to draw on, and great for keeping in your pocket for sketching. On a related note, check out Mark Kennedy’s series of posts on using sketchbooks if you haven’t already… really inspiring words.
Here’s some recent lion sketches using fine felt-tip pen on one of those slick Moleskines.

Fabulous, Andy!
—AmandaHi Andy,
I followed your post from Sergio’s blog. Great work here. I’ve bookmarked it in the category Best Blogs so that means I’ll be back often. If you’re into moleskins, I guess you’re familiar with Mattias Adolphsson’s work. If not, I’ve got a link to his blog from mine. I put Mark Kennedy into my Best Blogs folder as well. Even though it’s Sunday, it’s back to work for me.
One final question, do you have any of Ken Hultgren’s books on animal drawing? If not I recommend them.
—Tom Kiddwhoa. Awesome work. I really enjoy how you convey motion.
—stephenHoly Cow Andy! Amazing drawings! Thanks for the visit but I don’t feel worthy. Awesome stuff!
—Adam FordAmanda: Thanks!
Tom: Cheers, and Mattias’s work looks great, really charming stuff. And yeah, Ken Hultgren’s book is awesome, I also recommend Joe Weatherly’s book on animal drawing.
Stephen: Thanks, I’m glad you like the motion in the images, it’s definitely what I try and communicate in these quick sketches :)
Adam: Wow, thanks, I have to say that *I* don’t feel worthy, your stuff is incredible man, thanks for stopping by :)
